    #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship for New International Students

     

    Shoreline Community College is excited to announce the new #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship for international student applicants in F-1 status who have attended high school overseas. Shoreline is one of 9 U.S. institutions participating in the official launch of this national campaign.

    The #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship recognizes international students who have a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. Participating institutions will award annual, renewable scholarships covering a minimum of 50% tuition. The scholarship is open to students of all areas of study. Submitting your application to Shoreline College only applies you for a scholarship from Shoreline Community College.


    Eligibility Criteria:
    • Be a new international student applicant for Fall 2019 who wants to attend Shoreline Community College with an F-1 student visa.
    • Attend (or have graduated from) a secondary school outside of the United States.
    • Demonstrate interest and personal initiative in activities involving intercultural learning and exchange
    Application Process:
    1. Apply for admission at Shoreline Community College.
    2. Complete and submit the #YouAreWelcomeHere application form including the written essay or video essay by March 29, 2019. 
    If awarded a scholarship, you will be required to submit a $500 deposit to Shoreline Community College by May 1, 2019. The deposit will be applied toward your tuition. If you are denied a visa, the entire amount will be refunded to you.

To do so create a log-in profile and select the #YouAreWelcomeHere application once you have logged in. Contact Alysen Laakso, scholarship manager, if you have any questions or need help with our online system. Her information is below.

    Beta Sigma Phi Visual Arts Scholarship

    Through the generosity of the Emerald City Council of Beta Sigma Phi, this scholarship is made available to outstanding visual arts students. This scholarship is for tuition and fees related to tuition at Shoreline Community College, and/or required textbooks, materials, and supplies available through the SCC Bookstore. One $500 scholarship will be offered for the 2018 - 2019 school year.
     
    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college)
    • Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA from previous schools, and/or maintain a minimum SCC clvl 2.5 GPA
    • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in visual studio art courses
    • Applicant can be a Part-Time or Full-Time student
    • Applicant does not need to be a Fine Arts major
    • Applicant must plan to be enrolled at SCC during the 2018-2019 school year



    Blavat Family Scholarship

    This scholarship was created in memory of Helen and Walter Blavat by their daughters. It was only following their parents’ death they became aware of the sacrifices their parents made that enabled Helen to attend nursing school. The Blavat’s were longtime Shoreline residents. Walter was fully disabled and by his early 50s, was unable to continue working. Helen began working as a nurse’s aide in various nursing homes to help support the family. Liking the work, Helen enrolled in the SCC Nursing Program. She continued working in geriatric nursing throughout her career well into her 60s.

    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Be a student enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing Program
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Financial need will be a consdieration
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are partents with minor chilrdren living at home
    • Preference will be given to applicants pursuing careers in geriatric nursing



    Dorothy Ball Gough Scholarship for Women

    Dorothy Ball Gough was a strong supporter of Shoreline Community College. As stated by Dorothy, she was “not fortunate to have children, therefore, I had no expense putting a child through school and this is my way of helping a woman through school which I didn’t’ have…”. One $1,500 scholarship will be offered to one woman over the age of thirty who plans to attend Shoreline Community College during the 2018-2019 year and who meets the eligibility criteria.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, parking permits, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     

    Criteria for Eligibility
    • Applicant must be a female over the age of thirty.
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have applied or be a currently enrolled SCC student.
    • Applicant must have a clvl 3.0 minimum GPA.
    • Applicant must plan to be enrolled at SCC in a minimum of 6 credits per quarter during 2018-2019.
    • Applicant must show financial need.
    • Preference given to applicants pursuing a Business Administration degree.



    Elizabeth R. Thomas Alumni Nursing Scholarship

    Elizabeth R. Thomas began her career as an LPN, graduated from Shoreline Community College in 1982 with an AAAS degree, and became an RN. She continued her education at Seattle University and was the first African American to complete the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program and the University of Washington School of Nursing, and the first one to work as an ARNP in Seattle. Elizabeth was a pediatric nurse practitioner at Odessa Brown clinic for over 25 years before her retirement. Due to Elizabeth, many contributions she has made in her practice and throughout the district and state nurses association, she was inducted in the WSNA Nurses Hall of Fame in 2000. Ms. Thomas passed away February 8, 2011. Scholarship awards will be based on need, merit, commitment to serving diverse communities, as well as a recipient’s potential in his/her nursing career.

    • Be a student enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing Program
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Financial need will be a consdieration
    • Must show merit and a commitment to serving diverse communities
    • Must show potential in his/her nursing career



    Eric Niemitalo Memorial Scholarship in Earth & Environmental Science

    Eric Niemitalo was a student at Shoreline Community College. He was working towards an Associate of Science Degree and planning to transfer to a 4-year college to pursue a degree in Environmental Science with emphasis in Geology. His progress towards his dream career was tragically interrupted by his premature death.
     
    His family and friends established scholarship to honor his memory. One $500 scholarship will be offered to a student who is pursuing a degree in the sciences.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition on or before June 2019 at Shoreline Community College. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident as defined by the college.
    • Applicant needs to have completed at least 15 clvl credits at Shoreline CC.
    • Applicant must be presently enrolled at Shoreline CC for at least 12 credits.
    • Applicant must have completed at least one course at SCC in one of the following subject areas:
      • Geology, Environmental Science, Geography, or Oceanography
    • Applicant must be in Good Academic Standing.
    • Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
    • Applicant must intend to pursue a degree in the Sciences.
    • Preference will be given to those who are planning to continue at an accredited college or university and focusing on Earth or Environmental Science.



    Friends of Mary Automotive Scholarship

    The Friends of Mary Automotive Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Mary Nelson, who was a graduate of Shorewood High School and attended Shoreline Community College. Mary worked at Schuck’s Auto Supply. This scholarship is in memory of Mary and her love of autos and driving. It is intended to provide financial assistance to women currently enrolled in the Shoreline Community College Automotive Program. One $750 scholarship will be offered for use at Shoreline CC beginning fall quarter 2019.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or required books and materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore, and/or other professional fees. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. This award expires spring 2019.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident as defined by the college.
    • Applicant must be a returning female student at Shoreline Community College.
    • Applicant must have completed a minimum of two quarters in the SCC Automotive Program.
    • Applicant must have earned and maintained a minimum 2.0 SCC clvl GPA.
     


    Full-Time Continuing Student Scholarship

    The Shoreline Community College Foundation will offer up to twelve individual scholarships of $2,500 per award to SCC students who meet the eligibility criteria and who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018-2019 year.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 Shoreline CC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must display good academic performance and involvement in school and/or community activities
    • Applicant must have completed at least 15 Shoreline CC clvl credits.
    • Applicant must be currently enrolled at Shoreline CC with at least 12 credits.



    Hannah Heltsley Memorial Scholarship

    This fund was established in memory of Hannah Heltsley. Hannah was a talented young woman who struggled with Borderline Personality Disorder and addiction, and was never able to complete her education. This scholarship was created by her loved ones for the purpose of providing scholarships/grants for Shoreline students who struggle with mental illness and/or addiction. This scholarship will be offered in the amount of two $500 awards during the 2018-2019 year to those who meet the eligibility criteria.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-551 Card or a student in F-1 non-immigrant status (if applicable).
    • Applicant must be currently accepted and enrolled in a degree seeking program at Shoreline CC.
    • Applicant must be in Good Academic Standing
    • Must have completed a minimum of two quarters at Shoreline
    • Must have a Shoreline CC clvl GPA of at least 2.5
    • Award will be given based on need, grades, and quality of essay.



    High School Academic Scholarship

     The Shoreline Community College Foundation will offer four $1,500 scholarships to graduating Washington State high school seniors enrolling in Shoreline Community College for the academic year 2018-2019.
     
    The High School Academic scholarship is available to students who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership qualities, and involvement in school and community activities.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore, and/or parking permits. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington State resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must be a graduating senior during the 2017-2018 school year with a minimum 3.2 grade point average during his/her junior and senior year of high school.
    • Applicant must have applied to Shoreline Community College and plan to attend SCC Full-Time (12 credits or more/quarter in 2018-2019.
    • Applicant must display academic excellence, leadership, and/or involvement in school and community activities.



    Hugh S. Cannon Foundation Scholarship

    The Shoreline Community College Foundation will offer up to five individual scholarships of $3,000 per award to Shoreline CC students who meet the eligibility criteria and who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018-2019 year. These scholarships are available for students who demonstrate good academic performance and have significant financial need.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials at Shoreline CC. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-551 Card or a student in F-1 non-immigrant status (if applicable).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 Shoreline CC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must show financial need, but not scheduled to receive Federal and/or State Financial Aid grants during the 2018-2019 year.
    • Applicant must have completed at least 24 Shoreline CC clvl credits.
    • Applicant must be currently enrolled Full-Time at Shoreline CC in a minimum of 12 clvl credits



    In Honor of the Board of Trustees and Executive Team Scholarship

    President Cheryl Roberts and her husband, Miller Adams, offer the “Board of Trustees and Executive Team Scholarship” in honor of the Trustees and Executive Team’s leadership in championing student success, inclusion, and excellence at Shoreline Community College.  This scholarship is given each year to inspire students to “finish what they start” at Shoreline and to let them know they have the Board and senior leadership in full support of their educational goals.

    Requirements:
    • Be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Have a cumulative SCC grade point average of 3.0 or above.
    • Be accepted into Shoreline Community College in a degree or certificate program at time of application.
    • Be presently enrolled at SCC and be in good academic standing.
    • Complete budget worksheet.
    • Have a met with an advisor and have a completed academic plan on file. 



    Ina Knutsen Scholarship

    These scholarships are available for continuing students who demonstrate good academic performance and have significant financial need.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
      

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-551 Card or a student in F-1 non-immigrant status (if applicable).
    • Applicant must be currently accepted and enrolled in a degree seeking program at SCC.
    • Applicant must be in Good Academic Standing, and have completed a minimum of two quarters at Shoreline with a 3.0 SCC clvl GPA
    Award will be given based on need, grades, and quality of essay


    JD Humphreys Memorial Clean Energy Scholarship

    JD Humphreys was a 31 year old student in the Shoreline Community College Clean Energy Program who was tragically killed in October 2013. This scholarship was established by his classmates and instructor to remember JD by supporting other students enrolled in the Clean Energy Program.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore or SCC parking permits. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
      

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Full-Time SCC student in the Clean Energy Program.
    • Applicant must be an ongoing SCC student having completed a minimum of 15 SCC clvl credits.
    • Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 SCC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
    • Applicant must be in Academic Good Standing with SCC.



    Joan Heeter Memorial Nursing Scholarship

    Joan Heeter became a nurse after she attended Olympic College in her fifties. Her husband established this fund in memory of his wife after her passing. This scholarship is for nursing students and will be awarded based on need and with preference given to midlife women returning to school.

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Be a student enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing Program
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Financial need will be a consideration
    • Preference will be given to midlife women returing to school



    Joseph W Sullivan Nursing Scholarship

    The Joseph W. Sullivan Nursing Scholarship was established by his widow in December 2013 to honor her late husband’s memory and his request to provide assistance to nursing students who have financial need, and are of Filipino descent.


    Joseph Wood Rogers Memorial Scholarship in Mathematics

    Joe Rogers was an associate faculty at Shoreline Community College. He received his PhD in Electricial Engineering, but his true passion was Mathematics. This scholarship is given to assist promising students to continue their studies in Mathematics.
     
    The Shoreline Community College Foundation, on behalf of family and friends who wish to honor Joe’s memory, will make available the Joseph Wood Rogers Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to one outstanding student who will continue their studies at an accredited four-year college or university and major in “pure” mathematics (the branches of mathematics that study and develop the principles of mathematics for their own sake rather than for their immediate usefulness).
     
    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have completed at least 30 clvl credits at SCC.
    • Applicant must have completed at least two Mathematic courses at or above the Calculus level at SCC.
    • Applicant must have at least a 3.5 grade point average in Mathematic courses taken at SCC.
    • Applicant must intend to pursue a degree in “pure” mathematics at an accredited college or university.
      • The branches of mathematics that study and develop the principles of mathematics for their own sake rather than for their immediate usefulness.
    • Applicant must show promise of continued growth in Mathematics.



    Linda Breiwick MLT Program Scholarship

    This scholarship  is available to Shoreline Community College Medical Laboratory Technology students who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018 - 2019 year as a Full-Time student taking 12 credits or more.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by graduation or completion of the MLT Program.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a 2.5 SCC clvl GPA or above.
    • Applicant must be accepted into Shoreline Community College MLT Program at the time of application.
    • Applicant must be presently enrolled at SCC.
     


    Linda Lee Hale Scholarship

    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 SCC clvl GPA
    • Applicant must be a degree seeking
    • Must show financial need.
    • One page personal typed essay stating your financial need and how receiving this award would affect your education

    Margaret Mallett Nursing Scholarship

    Margaret Mallett was born in 1912 in North Dakota. She came to the Northwest in 1923, graduated from Ballard High school in 1930, and graduated from the Seattle General Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. Margaret passed away in Seattle in 1989. This fund was established in memory of Margaret by her son. This nursing scholarship will be awarded based on need, merit, and community involvement.

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Be a student enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing Program
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Financial need will be a consideration



    Margaret Svec Scholarship

    Margaret E. Svec was a member of the English faculty at Shoreline Community College from 1964 when the college opened, until 1978. She won awards for her poetry and her work was published in magazines and journals. After her retirement, Margaret actively supported the Women’s Center as a presenter, mentor, advocate, advisory committee member, and donor. Margaret died at the age of 99 in September 2012. She endowed funds through the SCC Foundation to support two SCC women each year. One would be pursuing a transfer degree, and the other pursuing a professional-technical degree.

     
    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have earned a minimum of 24 clvl credits at SCC
    • Applicant must be currently enrolled in at least 12 credits
    • Applicant must be a woman
    • Applicant must be pursuing a transfer degree OR a professional-technical degree
    • Applicant must have earned a 3.0 SCC clvl GPA or higher
    • Applicant may be asked for an in-person interview
     
    A recipient must:
    • Maintain a 3.0 SCC clvl GPA or higher during the quarter(s) in which the scholarship is used
    • Enroll as a Full-Time student during the quarter(s) in which the scholarship is used
    • Meet with an academic advisor to plan a class schedule appropriate to completing the intended degree



    Mark F. and Tiffany T. McVeety Scholarship

    Mark McVeety loved Shoreline Community College and the Foundation. As a past President of the Foundation Board of Directors, he often thought about ways to support the school and its students. When he learned he had a life threatening illness, he immediately determined to use his legacy to support others to who have experienced health issues.

    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant can be a Part-Time or Full-Time student
    • Essay should be on the topic of unforeseen medical or mental health event that required them to stop out of school before the end of the quarter. 



    Mark Galloway Automotive Scholarship

    Mark Andrew Galloway was a 2006 graduate of Monroe High School and the Sno-Isle Auto Technician Training Program where he was Student of the Year and a member of the National technical Vocational Honor Society. He was working on his Associate of Arts degree from the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program at Shoreline Community College and worked at Speedway Chevrolet in Monroe as a Service Technician and Performance Consultant at the time of his death. This scholarship in the amount of $1,000, established in memory of Mark, will be offered to a student in the GM-ASEP Program at Shoreline Community College, with preference being given to a graduate, or soon to be graduate of the Sno-Isle Auto Technician Training Program.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books through the SCC Bookstore. It will also go towards the purchase of automotive tools and/or supplies. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award expires spring 2019.
      

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington State resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a 2.0 clvl GPA or higher.
    • Applicant must have applied to SCC.
    • Applicant must be accepted into and/or enrolled in the Shoreline Community College GM-ASEP Program.
    • Applicant cannot be related in the first degree to a person on the selection committee.
    Preference given to a graduate or soon to be graduate of the Sno-Isle Auto Tech Training Program


    Martin Olsen Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in 2014 following the passing of Shoreline Community College’s much-loved counselor, Martin Olsen. Marty began his professional career at Shoreline as a Veterans’ Advisor after serving in the U.S. Army himself. He enjoyed having the opportunity to work with students on their educational and personal goals, and took pleasure in witnessing their growth. The Shoreline Community College Foundation is offering one individual scholarship of $1,000 to a student who shows a need for financial assistance.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 SCC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must display good academic performance and involvement in school and/or community activities
    • Applicant must have applied or be a currently enrolled SCC student.
    • Applicant must plan to be enrolled at SCC with a minimum of 10 credits per quarter during the 2018-2019 school year
    • Preference given to students who are U.S. Veterans.



    Peggy O’Coyne Memorial Music Scholarship

    This scholarship, named in memory of Peggy O’Coyne, who served as Music Department secretary from 1983 to 1990, was established by the Shoreline Community College Music Department. This scholarship was established to assist students who wish to pursue degrees and/or careers in music. Ms. O’Coyne was known for her steadfast loyalty and support for literally hundreds of music students at Shoreline Community College.  If the applicant meets the eligibility criteria, they will then be assigned an audition time.
     
    Scholarship is for SCC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the SCC Bookstore and/or SCC parking permits. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Be enrolled in at least 6 credits at Shoreline Community College
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for college level classes
    • Must be enrolled in the music department



    Professor Emeritus Dr. Bill Johnson Memorial Scholarship

    Dr. Johnson was a professor of mathematics at Shoreline Community College for 25 years. He had a strong commitment to student success and was always willing and available to help students in the sometimes perplexing world of mathematics. Acording to his friends and loved ones, "Dr. Johnson felt strongly about the importance of education...and avoided self-absorption in favor of a genuine interest in others.     Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-551 Card or a student in F-1 non-immigrant status.
    • Applicant must have completed a minimum of 25 credits at Shoreline CC and plan on transferring to a four-year university or college.
    • Applicant must have a strong emphasis of study in Mathematics or Science. (Mathematics preferred)
    • Applicant must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 SCC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must exhibit financial need.



    SCC Part-Time Continuing Scholarship

    The Shoreline Community College Foundation will offer four individual $1,000 scholarships to Shoreline CC students who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018-2019 year. These scholarships are available for Part-Time students who demonstrate good academic performance while working 25 - 40 hours a week
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore and/or Shoreline CC parking permits. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award expires June 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 Shoreline CC GPA for college level classes.
    • Applicant must display good academic performance and involvement in school and/or community activities
    • Applicant must have completed at least 9 Shoreline CC clvl credits.
    • Applicant must be presently enrolled at Shoreline CC for 3 - 11 academic credits.
    • Applicant must be currently working 25 - 40 hours per week
     


    SCC Student Veteran Merit Scholarship

    This scholarship was established to honor US Military Veteran or current Military who are Shoreline Community College students and display exemplary academic performance. The Shoreline CC Foundation is offering three individual scholarships of $1,500 each for students who meet the eligibility criteria and who will be attending Shoreline CC during 2018-2019.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Full-Time Shoreline CC student (as stipulated by the Veteran’s program).
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal or permanent U.S. resident.
    • Applicant must be a U.S. Military Veteran or currently in the Military (Those with dishonorable discharges are not eligible)
    • Applicant should be an ongoing Shoreline CC student & completed a minimum of at least one quarter at Shoreline CC.
    • Applicant plans to attend Shoreline CC during the 2018-2019 year at Full-Time.
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 Shoreline CC GPA for college level classes with a minimum 90% completion rate.
    • Applicant must have met with the Shoreline CC Veteran’s Program Coordinator.



    Shawn Henrichsen Memorial Dental Hygiene Scholarship

    The Shawn Henrichsen Memorial Dental Hygiene Scholarship was established by his parents Phyllis and Leo Henrichsen in July 2012. Shawn was a 1996 graduate of Shoreline Community College Dental Hygiene Program. This fund, in memory of the Henrichsen’s son, was created to provide assistance to students enrolled in the SCC Dental Hygiene Program who have financial need and will be attending Shoreline during the 2018-2019 year. One award of $500 will be made available.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required dental hygiene instruments and materials. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Critera for Eligibility
    • Be a full time student accepted or enrolled in the Shoreline CC Dental Hygiene program
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
    • Be in good standing with Shoreline CC
    • Must show evidence of financial need



    Shoreline Community College International Continuing Student Scholarship

    The Shoreline Community College Foundation will award two (2) $1000 scholarships, six (6) $500 scholarships, and eight (8) $250 scholarships to Shoreline CC International Students who meet the eligibility criteria and who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018-2019 school year. Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence and achievement and contribution to the Shoreline community.

    Scholarships will be applied toward Shoreline CC tuition and fees for 2018-2019, have no cash exchange value, and will be non-transferable to any other quarters or other institutions. The award expires Spring 2019.

    Criteria for Eligibility
    • Applicant must be currently enrolled full-time at Shoreline CC in at least 12 academic credits or on an approved Reduced Course Load (RCL).
    • Applicant must be an Shoreline CC international student with F-1 non-immigrant status in compliance with immigration regulations.
    • Applicant must have completed at least one quarter in which they succeeded in 15 or more college-level credits at Shoreline CC (courses below 100-level, including EAP and ESL, do not count as “college-level”).
    • Applicant must have a minimum Shoreline CC cumulative GPA of 3.5.



    Sonia O Kemp Nursing Scholarship

    Established from the Sonia O. Kemp Charitable Trust fund in 2009, this nursing scholarship will be awarded to two Shoreline Community College Nursing students who display financial need.

    Criteria for Eligiblity
    • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-551 card or a student in F-1 immigrant status
    • Applicant must be currently enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing Program
    • Applicant must be in good academic standing with a minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.0
    • Awards will be given based on meed and merit



    Swisher/Matesky Piano Scholarship

    This scholarship was established to assist students who wish to pursue degrees and/or careers in music with an emphasis on piano. Through the generosity of donors, the Shoreline Community College Foundation is making available one $1,800 scholarship to a student who plans to study at Shoreline Community College during the 2018-2019 year and meet the eligibility criteria.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and materials. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.

    Criteria for Eligibility
    • Applicant must be a US citizen or legal US resident or U.S. resident or permanent US resident with an I-551 card or a student in F-1 non immigrant status
    • Applicant can be a new or current Shoreline CC student enrolled in the music department
    • Applicatn msut have a GPA of 3.0 or better in all music courses
    • Appicant must plan to be enrolled at Shoreline CC in a minimum of 9 credits per quarter during the upcoming school year
    • Applicant must enroll in 2 credits of Music 180/280 each quarter they are available



    SYMETRIX Digital Audio Engineering Scholarship

    This fund was established for the purpose of providing scholarships and grants to Shoreline CC students in the Digital Audio Engineering Program. It was created in collaboration between Shoreline CC alumnus working at SYMETRIX Inc. and the CEO and founder of the Seattle based company who wanted to give back to Shoreline. This scholarship is intended to support students who have a passion for music engineering. The Shoreline Community College Foundation will make available four $500 scholarships to students currently pursuing a degree in Digital Audio Engineering who have completed a minimum of two quarters at Shoreline CC.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and other required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore, or Shoreline CC parking permits. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident with an I-1551 Card or a student in F-1 non-immigrant status.
    • Applicant must be in Good Academic standing with Shoreline CC.
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 Shoreline CC GPA for college level courses.
    • Applicant must be an ongoing Shoreline CC student seeking a degree in Digital Audio Engineering and have completed a minimum of two quarters at Shoreline CC.
    • Applicant must have taken at least 12 credits in Music Tech courses.
    • Applicant must plan to be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per quarter during the upcoming school year.
    • Applicants’ financial need will be considered but is not a requirement.



    Tammi O’Brien Shanks Memorial Nursing Scholarship

    Tammi O’Brien Shanks graduated from Shoreline CC’s School of Nursing in 1996 and worked at Northwest Hospital as a surgical nurse for 12 years. In 2001, she was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The hardest thing she ever had to do was give up her nursing career due to her disability. She was patiently awaiting a lung transplant at the time of her death. This scholarship established in memory of Tammi by her family and friends will assist students in the Nursing Program here at Shoreline CC.

    Criteria for Eligibility
    • Be a full-time student enrolled in the Shoreline CC Nursing program
    • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0
    • Be a Washington state resident as defined by the college
    • Financial need will be a consideration
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are aprents with minor children living at home



    Tessie & Robert Adams and LeRoy & Ann Roberts, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

    In honor of our parents, Tessie and Robert Adams and LeRoy and Ann Roberts, who dedicated their lives to expanding civil rights for all. Our parents saw education as the key to the life of the mind and a direct path to pursuing the American dream. This memorial scholarship was established for students interested in pursuing a certificate or degree to improve and transform their lives.

    Requirements:
    • Be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Have a cumulative SCC grade point average of 3.0 or above.
    • Be accepted into Shoreline Community College in a degree or certificate program at time of application.
    • Be presently enrolled at SCC and be in good academic standing.
    • Complete budget worksheet.
    • Has met with an advisor and has a completed academic plan on file. 



    The Sparrow Scholarship in Memory of Ted Luttrell

    “The sparrow will fly with the grace of an angel/ world and world will collide/ both are willing and able.” – last lyrics written by Ted Luttrell

    This scholarship was created by the family and friends of Ted Luttrell. Ted was a student at Shoreline Community College until his death from an aneurysm at age 20. A gifted bassist and lyricist, Ted has a passion for music and hoped to complete the audio recording program at Shoreline CC despite scholastic and medical challenges. This scholarship is intended to support student who share Ted’s gift and passion for music and who also face emotional, learning, and/or medical challenges that make attaining their dream more difficult. In the words of his family, “Ted was a star in life and we know those who apply for this scholarship are also, in their own unique ways, stars that may need a helping hand in order to shine their gifts upon the world.”

    $3,000 will be awarded to one music technology student who meets the eligibility criteria. The scholarship recipient will receive $1,000 each quarter for 3 quarters if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria

    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must have applied to Shoreline Community College and be seeking a degree or certificate in the SCC Music Technology Program
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the College)
    • Applicant must have and maintain a minimum 2.5  GPA
    • Applicant must submit a 300-600 word essay about the challenges they have faced and how those challenges have impacted their ability to make their dreams a reality
    • Financial need will be a consideration but is not a requirement
    Criteria to Maintain Scholarship During 2018-2019
    The recipient of the Sparrow Scholarship will need adhere to the following criteria in order to receive the $1,000 for each of the three quarters. If the recipient fails to meet these criteria, the scholarship may be rescinded
    • Minimum 2.5 Shoreline CC GPA
    • Meet monthly with a tutor in their music technology classes, unless documented as unnecessary by their professor
    • Be seeking a degree or certificate in music technology



    Theater Arts & Digital Film Foundation Scholarship

    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college)
    • Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA from previous schools, and/or maintain a minimum Shoreline CC clvl 2.5 GPA
    • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in Theater Arts or Digital Film Classes
    • Applicant can be a Part-Time or Full-Time student
    • Applicant does not need to be a Theater Arts or Digital Film major
    • Applicant must plan to be enrolled at Shoreline CC during the 2018-2019 school year
    • Essay on the importance of your education in Theater Arts or Digital Film at Shoreline Community College



    Troy Wolff Memorial Humanities Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in 2013 following the passing of Shoreline Community College’s beloved and respected co-worker, Troy Wolff. Troy was a member of the English faculty at Shoreline for 17 years and was chair of the English Department at the time of his tragic death. In addition to teaching composition and literature, Troy was a published author. He also taught in the college’s study abroad programs taking students to Costa Rica, Spain, Greece and Turkey. Troy was committed to his students.
     
    The Shoreline CC Foundation is offering two individual scholarships of $500 each for students who focus on Humanities in their studies, have financial need, and who will be attending SCC during 2018-2019.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by June 2019.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the College).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 SCC clvl GPA or higher.
    • Applicant must be a continuing SCC student and presently enrolled.
    • Applicant must have earned a minimum of 15 academic clvl credits at SCC.
    • Applicant must have completed a minimum of one Humanities course other than ENGL&101, ENGL& 102.
    • Applicant must demonstrate financial need.



    VIVA Hispanic Foundation NW Scholarship

    The VIVA Hispanic Foundation NW is committed to giving Latino youth and families lifelong learning experiences through a series of initiatives and programs that enables them to become successful and contributing citizens of our community. The VIVA Hispanic Foundation NW established this scholarship to support students of Hispanic descent who attend Shoreline Community College.
     
    The SCC Foundation will offer two individual $500 scholarship to Shoreline CC students who will be continuing their education at Shoreline during the 2018-2019 year. These scholarships are available for students who are of Hispanic descent and will be awarded for use beginning summer or fall 2018.
     
    Scholarship is for Shoreline CC tuition and fees related to tuition, and/or books and required materials available through the Shoreline CC Bookstore. This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring.
     
    Criteria for Eligibility 
    • Applicant must be a Washington state resident (as defined by the college).
    • Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 Shoreline CC clvl GPA.
    • Applicant must have completed at least 12 academic credits at Shoreline Community College
    • Applicant must be presently enrolled at Shoreline CC for at least 10 credits.
    • Applicant must be of Hispanic descent.         



    Vivian Wellman Batty Memorial Nursing Scholarship

    Vivian Wellman Batty graduated from Edison Nursing School in the early 1960s. She entered nursing school while she was in her early 40s, and her graduation fulfilled a life-long dream to become a nurse and a service to others. Most of her nursing career was spent at the VA Hospital on Beacon Hill, and it is there that she served many of the veterans from the Vietnam War. She dutifully cared for all of her patients, but on occasion would bring one of her six children to visit some of the young vets, mostly to show appreciation for their service. Vivian was truly a quiet trailblazer for independence. She was strong and courageous and was absolutely dedicated to the nursing profession.

    This scholarship has no cash exchange value and is non-transferable. The award must be completed by spring 2019.
